Luis Enrique has bizarrely criticised Kylian Mbappe, despite him scoring a hat-trick for Paris Saint-Germain in their 3-0 victory over Reims.

Mbappe, 24, produced a stunning performance as PSG moved to the top of the Ligue 1 with a comfortable win at Stade Auguste-Delaune. The France international opened the scoring in the fifth minute with an impressive first-time finish, volleying the ball beyond Yehvann Diouf.

He added his second after half-time, tapping home from close range following Carlos Soler's low cross. This was before Mbappe wrapped up his hat-trick with a devastating strike to secure all three points for Enrique's men as they leapfrogged Nice to the summit of the table.

However, it's safe to say Enrique was not pleased with Mbappe. Speaking after the match, the PSG boss said: "I'm not really happy with Kylian today. I have nothing to say about the goals... But he can help the team more, in different ways. He's a world class player, we want more. I'm going to talk to him about it first, it's private."

Mbappe's future has come under question of late, with his PSG contract set to run out at the end of the season. He has been linked with a blockbuster move to Real Madrid, and the ex-Monaco attacker will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January if he doesn't sign another deal.

After his treble against Reims, Mbappe was quizzed on the subject. He said: "The most important thing, what I wanted [last summer] was to play football. I leave the rest to you [reporters], who do it well. I don't want to talk about anything else. I think that's enough."

As for Enrique, he was pleased with his team's overall display despite his criticism of Mbappe. He added: "I'm very happy. It was a very difficult match. Very difficult from the first minute - even though we scored in the second minute! But it was complicated.

"They were a very good team. We suffered, but we were alert and we defended well when we needed to. Gigio saved us several times, but I think we deserved to win. Even if the scoreline could have been closer."

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who impressed against Reims, added: "I'm very happy with this clean sheet, with the team's victory, and I'm still hoping to help the team. It's important not to concede goals.

"I'd like to thank the team for putting me in the right frame of mind to play like that. I'm very happy with the way the team played. My favourite save? The next one! The next one is always the best."
