UFC legend Daniel Cormier keeled over after brutal kick from Alex Pereira

UFC legend Daniel Cormier stumbled in pain after taking a brutal leg kick from former middleweight champion Alex Pereira.

Pereira competes for the world title that Cormier held for several years when he faces Jiri Prochazka in the main event of UFC 295 this Saturday. Cormier retired from fighting three years ago and has since become an analyst for the UFC, but he couldn't resist going back to his old ways by testing the power of Pereira.

The Brazilian, who is a former two-weight kickboxing world champion, is known for his striking skills and Cormier found that out the hard way. Pereira kicked Cormier in the leg twice, once at five per cent power and the second at ten per cent power, but it was the third kick at 25 per cent power which left 'DC' keeled over.

"I’ve seen it time and time again, I had to know what it felt like so I asked Poatan to give me a couple of the little leg kicks. They are as painful as they look. Unbelievable," Cormier wrote. Pereira used his leg kicks to great effect in his last fight against Jan Blachowicz, securing a decision win that earned him a title shot against Prochazka.

Prochazka vacated his light-heavyweight title last November after suffering the "worst shoulder injury in history". The Czech fighter looks to reclaim the belt that he never lost, whilst Pereira is hoping to become a two-weight champion at the same arena where he made his debut and won his first UFC belt.

"This is a very special place, where I made my UFC debut and where I became a champion. I'm used to this environment and atmosphere, I'm focused on another fight week and another title fight. All my experience plays a big part, I'm used to hard fights and tough moments. Maybe this fight could be one of this so if it is, I'm ready," Pereira said.

"Everything I've been through in my life has helped me to get here. This is definitely a hard and unpredictable opponent, I know how important this fight is. Everybody is pumped for this fight and wants to watch it. [Jiri] has a fighting style that is hard to understand but I have my weapons and I will show them in the fight."
