Cocker spaniel dies and owner injured after horrific dog attack at beauty spot

A cocker spaniel has died and its owner injured died after a vicious dog attack at a popular beauty spot.

The horror mauling took place at Tamworth Castle Grounds in Staffordshire when the pair were talking a walk on the afternoon of November 5, reports BirminghamLive. The owner of the spaniel was bitten on the chin when she tried to intervene.

He beloved pooch was rushed to a vet but could not be saved. Police said the dog that launched the attack was a "Mastiff-type" and also released a picture of a man who may have further information.

Staffordshire Police said: "We have released a picture of a man we want to speak to after a dog fatally attacked another dog inside Tamworth Castle Grounds.

"At about 3pm on Sunday, November 5, a man was walking his dog when it attacked a cocker spaniel. In an attempt to get the dog off, the owner of the spaniel tried to intervene and was bitten on the chin as a result. She wasn’t seriously injured.

"The spaniel was taken to a vet following the ordeal and sadly died as a result of the injuries. The offending dog was described as a Mastiff-type breed.

"It was dark brown with tan-coloured spots and had a distinctive gold collar. The owner, a man, was tall with short brown hair. He had tattoos on his neck and was wearing glasses, a gold chain, a black hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and trainers.
