GERARD MENTOR looks the one to follow in the TrustATrader Fully Vetted Tradespeople Handicap Hurdle (2.30) over two miles at Warwick.
The seven-year-old won over course and distance back in October last year, and followed up with two more victories the following month.
Kim Bailey’s charge took time to recover his form this year, but bounced back last month when just failing to hold on to the lead by a head in a battle to the line at Exeter.
On his most recent run two weeks ago Gerard Mentor ran well again when second of 11 in a Hereford handicap hurdle, where he was probably given too much to do to chase down the winner.
My selection acts on the ground and has been raised just 1lb for his most recent efforts. His yard is also currently firing in the winners.
GOLDEN SON can shine in the Stan Mellor Memorial Novices' Chase (1.55) over two and a half miles.
The French import makes his first start for champion trainer Paul Nicholls, having been a classy hurdler for his previous handler, winning twice at Auteuil, including the Grade 2 Prix Georges de Talhouet-Roy in 2021.
The five-year-old made his chasing debut last year, finishing second of four at the Paris course and he looks an interesting prospect.
