The suspect charged with murdering four Univeristy of Idaho students in their beds whispered "I love you" in court as he was cleared to be extradited.

Bryan Kohberger was in court in Pennsylvania, where he agreed to waive his extradition hearing.

Kohberger, 28, was arrested on Friday December 30, six weeks after four students were stabbed to death in their Moscow, Idaho, US, rental student home.

The bodies of Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20 and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found stabbed to death in their beds.

His family were in attendance and as he was being lead out he turned to them and whispered "I love you".

In court he asked a series of 'yes/ no' questions about the decision to waive the hearing.

Judge Margherita Worthington asked: “Mr. Kohberger, do you suffer from any mental health diagnosis or take prescribed medication or medication that would impact ability to understand what we are doing here today?”

To which Kohberger replied: "No".

The Judge continued: “Do you wish to waive your rights and voluntarily return to the state of Idaho to face prosecution?”

The suspect replied: "Yes".

Kohberger's mum, dad and two sisters were in the court to watch the proceedings.

In a statement, delivered by their lawyer, the family previously said: "We will continue to let the legal process unfold and as a family we will love and support our son and brother."

They also said they will "promote his presumption of innocence" as the trial is underway.

Law enforcement have said he will be moved to Idaho in the next 10 days.

Monroe County Chief Public Defender Jason LaBar, who is representing the suspect, has said Kohberger "is eager to be exonerated of these charges and looks forward to resolving these matters as promptly as possible".

Upon Kohberger’s return to Idaho he will be served with the Idaho arrest warrant and once he has appeared in court the probable cause affidavit will be unsealed.

This will reveal more information about the charges against him.
