Horror fans have said they were still laughing a week after watching a film that’s been described as the “funniest horror film ever”. The horror-comedy Deadstream was released in 2022, but a host of new fans have just discovered it over the Halloween period.

The outlandish film follows a disgraced content creator who attempts to win back his followers by livestreaming one night alone in a haunted house. But when he accidentally angers a vengeful spirit, his big comeback event becomes a real-time fight for his life.

The low-budget horror is presented as found-footage of the livestream in the style popularised by 1999’s The Blair Witch Project, with some fans arguing it is a cross between that and Sam Raimi’s 1981 classic The Evil Dead. Deadstream is a collaboration from husband and wife filmmaking team Joseph and Vanessa Winter, who directed, wrote, produced and edited the film, in which Joseph alo starred.

The film is available on Amazon’s Prime Video and can be streamed with a subscription to horror channel Shudder through Amazon Prime. It can even be viewed without paying a penny thanks to Amazon’s 30-day free trial and Shudder’s seven-day free trial – or rented for £3.49 directly through Prime Video.

Fans of the macabre can truly immerse themselves in the horror experience thanks to a bargain Black Friday deal from Currys that can save them £250. The tech retailer has reduced the Hisense 55" Smart 4K UHD TV with Amazon Alexa to £329 – a whopping 43 per cent discount – as well as offering Apple TV+ free for five months with any purchase.

Many Deadstream fans have taken to social media throughout the spooky season to praise the freaky flick, with some saying it is the “funniest horror film ever.” On X – formerly known as Twitter – @yokaniii_ said: “If you like campy horror/dark comedy, Deadstream had me in stitches.”

@JonathancBarron said: “For those who prefer comedy-scary movies, this is like Evil Dead meets Blair Witch. Definitely a fun watch.”

@TRP_DaRainmaker said: “By far the funniest horror film ever made.”

@AdamLGNevill said: “I was still laughing about Deadstream one week later.”

@JackWNicholls said: “This is a stupidly funny film. It is so goofy I grinned from start to finish.”

@midwestrogen_ added that Deadstream is “incredibly funny and still scary,” while @smokostweetzone said it is “genuinely funny, gross and creepy.”

Join Amazon Prime to stream Deadstream. A host of other horrors are available on streaming platforms including Netflix and Disney+.
