An 18-year-old “amazing” mum has died after car she was a passenger in crashed during a police chase.

Amber Deakin, who has a young son, was in a Vauxhall Vectra which was being pursued by traffic police after the driver allegedly failed to stop.

It is believed the driver lost control on a bend during the police pursuit and flipped over.

The car, which is understood to have had six people inside, left the road and hit a wall - coming to rest on its roof. Five people were injured.

A 21-year-driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The crash happened around 11.50pm, on Tuesday, on Baildon Road, Baildon, near Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Amber’s mum, Hayley Norton, 41, of Shipley, West Yorks., relived the horrific moment she was woken by police officers informing her of Amber's death.

She said: “I got woken up at 2.30am-ish by the police asking if Amber lived here and then they said there had been a traffic collision and one fatality and they were 98 per cent sure it was Amber.

“I was shocked and I’m still like that now, I don’t think it will be real until I see her.

“She was always larger than life, full of life, really outgoing and a right character.

“She was really caring and had a big heart.

“She was a great daughter and a really good mum - even though she was young, she was doing amazing.”

Amber's son, Junior, is just 16 months old and she also leaves behind three siblings - younger brothers Blake and Bailey, and older sister Holly.

Hayley said Blake, 5, adored Amber and added: “She loved enjoying life with her friends when she had time off from the baby and she also loved spending every penny she had on him.

“Her dream was to be a good mum and she loved it.

But Hayley has been left upset by comments online speculating about what happened.

She added: “A lot of people have a misconception of what happened. We don’t know exactly what happened yet.

“I feel a bit upset that people are saying it’s her own fault.

“I don’t think she would have got in the car if she had of known it would have taken her away from her son.”

Online tributes have been made to Amber with her grieving dad Simon Deakin saying: ”Fly high my beautiful girl. I’m going to miss you so much”.

Her sister Holly is said to be “heartbroken” and described Amber as her "beautiful baby sister".

In a message to her pal, her best friend said: “Amber Deakin I love u so much and I always will u was one of my best friends and I’m sorry this has happened to u but I promise u I will look after junior for u and tell him how much of an amazing mum u was and how much u loved him. I miss u already.”Another friend described Amber as "one in a million".
