Virgin Media rivals Sky with a blockbuster TV upgrade launching this week

Sky might be one of the most popular telly platforms in the UK but Virgin Media clearly wants a slice of the action. The telecoms firm, which is famed for its speedy broadband, has just announced a big boost to its TV offerings which now help it match Sky's premium service.

From this week, customers with TV 360 or Stream boxes in their living rooms will be able to tune into content from Apple TV+ without needing another smart device plugged into the back of their telly.

The Apple TV+ streaming service has been integrated into Sky's Q, Stream and Glass tellies for a number of years and Virgin users will surely now welcome the change to their devices.

For those not aware, Apple TV+ is just like Netflix with it featuring exclusive award-winning shows, boxsets and movies including content such as Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Hijack, Foundation and the soon-to-be-released Killers of the Flower Moon from director Martin Scorsese.

It costs £8.99 per month although there are deals which include three months for free.

Speaking about the upgrade David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “Virgin TV is the home of great entertainment with all the must-have channels, apps and on demand shows we know our customers love. With Apple TV+ now available on Virgin TV 360 and Stream, our customers can enjoy even more unmissable shows and movies all in one place.”

Along with Apple TV+, Virgin also says that a further eight channels are being added to the planner.

These include Legend (Channel 149), PBS (Channel 187), HGTV (Channel 191), TalkTV (Channel 606), Bloomberg (Channel 609), CNBC HD (Channel 613), Crime + Investigation (Channel 133).
