Kendall Jenner prompted questions over her family's perceived "obsession" with Marilyn Monroe after sharing photos of herself seemingly dressed up as the late actor.
Some of the family have paid homage to Marilyn in recent years, including Kim Kardashian, 43. The reality TV star loaned one of Marilyn's dresses to wear at the Met Gala last year, which attracted much attention at the time.
Her youngest sister Kylie Jenner, now 26, had previously referenced Marilyn in a photoshoot for V Magazine in 2019. Kylie had dressed up in a replica of the late actor's iconic pink dress from film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953).

Alongside the photos, she referenced Marilyn having once performed Happy Birthday, Mr. President to President John F. Kennedy in 1962. Kendall wrote in the post's caption on Instagram recently: "happy birthday mister president."
The post has amassed more than four million likes since it was uploaded and Kendall was met with compliments from a number of her followers in the comments. However, not everyone seemed impressed by the reference to Marilyn.
One person reacted: "This family won't leave Marilyn alone will they." Another person said: "You all have used Marilyn Monroe enough, don't you think. Get a life of your own." Whilst a third said: "They [are] just over obsessed with her."
Someone commented: "Oh no. Leave Marilyn alone from your family seriously." Another person said in their response amid discussion: "Like they are obsessed." A sixth person wrote: "I love you Kendall but plz leave Marilyn alone."
Another said: "What's the Kardashian's weird obsession with Marilyn Monroe because they never do her any justice and they will never be like her." They later added in a follow-up comment over the post: "Just let Marilyn rest it's not hard."
It wasn't just on that platform itself that the family attracted criticism, with others reacting on Reddit. One person wrote: "I'm sorry but can they please leave Marilyn alone." Another response read: "Ugh can they all just leave this poor dead woman in peace." A third person said: "Let her spirit rest."
A number of people however defended Kendall, saying that she was simply wearing a costume for Halloween. Others suggested that the family should be allowed to pay homage to Marilyn, like many others do for costumed occasions.
"It's a costume for f***'s sake. It's not that serious," one person said amid the criticism on Instagram. Another person reacted: "Who cares, almost everyone in the entire world has done a version of Marilyn Monroe."
Defending the family, someone else said in the comments section: "They have done no harm to her whatsoever." Whilst a fourth person said recently: "Thousands of people dress like Marilyn for Halloween and no one complains."
