Chelsea are tracking Charlton Athletic star Miles Leaburn ahead of a potential move for the teenager.

Brentford too are interested in the Addicks forward, who is the son of the club's former player Carl, who made over 300 appearances at the Valley. Charlton are braced for January offers as several of their London rivals look to poach the frontman.

Leaburn stands at a dizzying 6ft 6in, making him a huge presence in the final third and he's continued to impress this term, scoring six times in 10 outings. Last year he enjoyed a breakout season in the capital, notching on 13 occasions, and has continued that rise.

The teenager came through the Chelsea academy so is well known to those at Cobham. He left in 2019 to join Charlton but could yet return with the Blues seeking to add more firepower and options to their forward line, which has failed to fire regularly over the past 18 months.

Charlton are under no pressure to sell with their player still having two years left on his current deal. In the summer they rejected a bid from a Bundesliga side worth more than £3million, as per the Daily Mail. Manager Dean Holden maintained: "Miles is not for sale. Miles is a fantastic young player with lots to learn still."

Current Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is not sold on his attacking options with neither Nicolas Jackson nor Armando Broja making the role their own in the absence of Christopher Nkunku, who was the club's marquee summer signing but sustained an injury early on.

As a result, the Argentine is looking to the market to address his issues having been given more influence over transfer dealings, something he called for recently amid suggestions it was the Stamford Bridge hierarchy signing the players - not the manager.

He said: "The good thing, the relationship is very good with the owners and the sporting directors. I think like I told before, when the transfer window was closed, I need to be involved, more involved now, in every single decision. I think we need to start identifying what we need for January. We already start to work."
