Richards suffers nightmare wardrobe malfunction after Mbappe tribute

Micah Richards was left embarrassed after his trousers split while he tried to make a tribute to Kylian Mbappe.

The former Manchester City star was covering the Champions League for American broadcaster CBS Sports on Wednesday night. One of the matches he watched was Paris Saint-Germain's clash with AC Milan at the Parc des Princes.

The Ligue 1 champions eased to a dominant win over the Rossoneri, with Mbappe opening the scoring just after the half-hour mark. Mbappe was outstanding throughout against Milan, with Richards paying tribute to the Frenchman as the CBS broadcast went an advert break.

Richards jumped up from a sofa, spread his legs wide and folded his arms to mimic Mbappe's signature celebration. As he did that though, presenter Kate Abdo noticed a nightmare wardrobe malfunction.

She asked Richards: "Are your trousers alright? Are they still intact?" Richards looked down to see his trousers had split and he immediately covered himself up with his hands as he ran back to the sofa.

Fellow pundit Jamie Carragher was left in stitches by the malfunction as he said: "I'm not sure who's getting cancelled but someone is!" Abdo bent over in her chair in fits of laughter, while Richards struggled to compose himself.

The malfunction did not stop him from lavishing praise on Mbappe though. Richards picked out the performance of the superstar as the highlight of PSG's win, which sent them to the top of their group.

"He's such a good player isn't he. I mean we talk about him so much, but the's just a joy to watch. Certainly the best player in the world right now, along with probably Haaland, maybe Bellingham just behind," he said.

"Kylian's always been my guy, I've been banging on about him for three, four years now. Everyone was talking about how he wasn't playing to the best of his ability this season, but I stayed loyal."

France legend Thierry Henry was also left impressed by the performance of Mbappe. The former Arsenal star was pleased to see PSG pull away from their opponents after the break.

"They had to win, no matter how. They put the style on in the second-half especially at one point being 2-0 up," Henry, who was absent when Richards suffered his split trousers, said.

"When you play against Paris Saint-Germain, you're 2-0 down, they hit you on the break, it becomes a tiny bit easier. When you have the point of the arrow called Kylian, you are in a good shape."
