Giovanni Pernice's live tour in Cardiff has been cancelled, after it was announced that its venue will be closed for construction checks.
The disappointing update coincides with the news that his Strictly Come Dancing partner, Amanda Abbington, has withdrawn from this year's series. It Takes Two host Fleur East confirmed on Monday's episode of the spin off show that the Sherlock star would no longer be participating in the BBC dance competition due to medical reasons.
A statement shared by a Strictly spokesperson has also confirmed the shock exit: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future." Giovanni, who won Strictly Come Dancing on 2021 with partner Rose Ayling-Ellis, has since taken to Instagram to pay tribute to the 49-year-old.
"I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love," he captioned a picture of the two of them backstage on Instagram.
The Italian ballroom dancer has faced another setback this evening, after a venue for one of his upcoming shows in Wales announced its sudden closure. Giovanni was due to take his Let Me Entertain You live tour to St David's Hall in Cardiff on January 24, 2024, where he would be joined by an outstanding cast of fellow pro dancers and West End performers for an 'unforgettable' evening of world-class entertainment.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourUnfortunately, ticketholders for the event will now have to make alternative plans for their night.
"St David’s Hall will be closed until the new year to undertake additional checks on the Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) panels in the building," a statement on the venue's official website read, before adding information on how to receive a refund. A number of other shows scheduled to take place at St. David's Hall have also been cancelled.

Amanda has yet to comment publicly on her withdrawal from Strictly, but rumours have been whirling that the Mr Selfridge star suffered immensely during her stint on the gruelling show.
"It has been a devastating time for Amanda. Her Strictly journey has been plagued by difficulties but she just didn’t think there was any other option," an insider told the MailOnline. "As hard as it has been, there was a chance they could have won."
It's no secret that Amanda was hit by a number of obstacles during her Strictly journey, including a bout of foot poisoning and extreme foot pain from the intensive rehearsals. She was even left in tears after the first day of practice, admitting she felt "fragile" in a video shared on Instagram by husband Jonathan Goodwin.
