BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Janette and Alijaz drop baby number two bombshell

Strictly Come Dancing favourites - and former pros - Janette Manrara and Alijaz Skorjanec could be thinking about a second baby, just three months after welcoming their first child, Lyra Rose.

In a new interview, Alijaz, who left the BBC show in spring 2022, has said he "can't wait" to expand the family after "waiting to be a dad for so long." Janette, 39, is sharing hosting duties on the spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two with Fleur East and welcomed Lyra Rose back in July, while Alijaz is taking a career break.

The Strictly pro of nine years gushed: "I can't wait to do daddy daycare - it's my favourite job ever. I have waited to be a dad for so long and I feel very lucky to be able to spend so much time with my daughter.

"I'm really looking forward to the future and thinking about our second child. Janette is still recovering but I'm planning to keep the bottles just in case,' he added when chatting with Hello! magazine.

The couple welcomed Lyra Rose, who is named after the pair's love of dance and music, via IVF after a few years of trying, the TV host shared back in the summer that it was Aljaz's dream to become a dad and admitted he 'cried everyday' during their 'miracle' pregnancy.

"He's wanted to be a dad since day one and he's so obsessed, he would breastfeed the baby if he could," Janette said recently. "'I knew he always wanted to be a father; I felt in my heart that I knew he was always going to be an amazing Dad, but to see it come to life with his excitement and his curiosity and his ability to really just take care of me is amazing."

She also added: "It's just the excitement of being a family, finally. We've known for a long time that we've been wanting to be parents, and now we have this little miracle coming, our lives are going to completely change forever once it arrives."

Earlier this week ITT host Janette threw her support behind one of this year's celebrities, Amanda Abbington, after the actress and her professional partner, Giovanni Pernice, pulled out of Saturday's live show due to medical reasons.

Janette said on Friday's live show: "We have some breaking news, unfortunately, due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. "Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week. Amanda we hope you get well soon my love, sending you all the best wishes!"
