Nectar changes popular Caffe Nero deal so shoppers need to swap more points

Nectar has changed its Caffe Nero offer and it means shoppers will have to exchange more points to get a free drink.

Previously, you’d need to swap 350 points, worth £1.75, to get a hot or cold drink of any size. But this has now increased to 400 points, worth £2 normally. The change came info force from Thursday this week.

However, the offer now includes speciality drinks and extras for the first time. Nectar said it has increased the number of points needed as speciality drinks are more expensive.

Sainsbury's shoppers get one Nectar point for every £1 spent in stores and online, or for every litre of fuel purchased. Bonus points are available if you’re a Sainsbury’s Energy or Sainsbury’s Bank customer as well. You also get points when you shop with other retailers.

Each point is worth 0.5p to spend in Sainsbury's stores - so 100 points are therefore 50p - or you can spend them at other partner brands. For example, you can convert your Nectar points into Avios to spend on British Airways flights, with 400 Nectar points currently worth 250 Avios. Nectar works with around 300 brand partners - including Argos, eBay, Sky and VUE cinemas.

In more Sainsbury's news, the supermarket made a huge change to how the Nectar scheme works earlier this year by introducing Nectar Prices. Nectar Prices was launched in April this year and offers lower prices to customers that are signed up to the Nectar card loyalty scheme.

You need to scan your Nectar card or app when you check out to get the lower prices. Nectar Prices aren't available in Sainsbury's convenience stores.
