Shakira has taken a swipe at her ex Gerard Piqué as she welcomed the New Year following the couple's split.
The She Wolf hit-maker, 45, and the former FC Barcelona player, 35, announced their split back in June after 11 years together.
Singing sensation Shakira, who shares sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, with Gerard appeared to make a dig at their split as she took to Instagram on New Years Day to ring in 2023 after a life-changing year.
Suggesting thats she had been 'betrayed' and found it hard to 'trust others', Shakira penned: "Even if our are still open in this new year, time has surgeon's hands. Even if someone has betrayed us, we must continue to trust others.
"When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth. Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.
Shakira's savage birthday present to ex Gerard Pique as split turns toxic"The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love."
The pair announced their separation earlier this year - after which Gerard was papped with his arm around Clara Chia Marti, 23.
Gerard and Barcelona-born Clara are said to have met at his firm Kosmos, where the 23-year-old works.
Spanish news website Niusdiario reported in December that the couple are now living together at his luxury city centre penthouse apartment in Barcelona and are planning to start a family.
Shakira was said to be 'very angry' when pics of the pair went viral - with Socialite reporting the former couple had an agreement not to be seen in public with new partners for a year after the split.
The Colombian singer also appeared to throw shade at her ex in her latest song.
Her new track, called Monotonia, references the 'narcissism' and 'cold as Christmas' attitude of a mystery man and the video for the song features the singer sobbing in a supermarket - eating crisps.
“It wasn’t your fault, nor was it mine," Shakira sings. "It was monotony’s fault. I never said anything but it hurt me. I knew this would happen. It’s a necessary goodbye. What used to be incredible became routine."
According to reports, Shakira is now set to move to Miami with her children after splitting up from their father.
