Coronation Street actress Sue Nicholls has teased another character could be killed by murderer Stephen Reid, after a possible death twist for Tim Metcalfe.

Tim, played by actor Joe Duttine, was brutally attacked and left to die by Stephen on Monday night. Tim's eyes were wide open as he laid lifeless on the floor after being suffocated by the serial killer, and now fans are convinced Stephen has struck again. But he might not be the last victim of Stephen.

The ITV soap has confirmed that Stephen's mother Audrey Roberts will go missing on Wednesday night following a showdown with her criminal son. As some secrets about his crimes come to light, Audrey confronts him - but she is unaware of the murders he has committed and that Tim is missing if not dead.

After Stephen turns on Audrey, the character goes missing and the Platts fear for her safety. Actress Sue, who has played Audrey since 1979, hinted at dark scenes ahead as Audrey could become Stephen's next and final murder victim in a sad twist. Teasing what was ahead, she confirmed Audrey could be in serious danger.

With spoiler pictures showing the moment the Platts arrive at Stephen's flat looking for Audrey, including one that appears to show a trophy with blood on it, it's teased Audrey could be next. Speaking about the scenes, she revealed: "She doesn’t know he has killed people.

"He is her son and she wants answers from him about why he stole from her. Of course what she doesn’t know is that the family are now looking for her as they have discovered about the murders and everyone is very frightened for her safety. What they find when they break into the flat makes them even more worried for her safety and they call the police."

On whether she feared Audrey could be killed off after learning Stephen would become a killer, she said: "Yes I did, I think we all thought that we could be at risk. Actually I still think that what has happened with Stephen could see Audrey off, we are all only on one year contracts so you never know. The aftermath of what happens this week and the confrontation with Stephen does have a profound effect on Audrey, she is a victim in many respects and how will she cope with that."
