Paul Hollywood delighted his fans on Monday as he paid a surprise visit to the set of Emmerdale along with his new wife, Melissa Spalding. It's the first time the pair have been snapped in public since their lavish wedding ceremony in Cyrprus a fortnight ago.
Paul, 57, and Melissa – who is 18 years his junior – descended on the Dingles' family home where they posed on the leather sofa with several members of the ITV soap's cast. Joining the newlyweds were actors Sam Hall (who plays Samson); James Hooton (Sam); Linda Riley (Mandy); and Karen Blick (Lydia).
The cast members were clearly pleased to see the Great British Bake Off star and his spouse as they appeared beaming ear-to-ear in a snap shared to Paul's Instagram account. He captioned the post: "Big Thankyou to the team at @emmerdale … see you all soon x @lisajaneriley."
"What a lineup," declared one of his 583,000 followers on the platform. Another wrote: "Congratulations on your wedding." Whilst a fourth joked: "I hope you brought them some nice breads or cakes!"
And a fourth asked: "What's happening? Are you becoming the new long lost cousin Jedro Dingle, who has a murky past and a mischievous whippet dog?"
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessElsewhere, Emmerdale's X (formerly Twitter) account shared a second shot of Paul enjoying his time in the Dales, this time as he leant on the Emmerdale village sign at the entrance to the village.
Shutting down hopeful viewers, however, the soap told MailOnline there are no plans to cast Paul in the show "any time soon".
"It was just a behind-the-scenes visit," a spokesperson confirmed. Paul and landlady Melissa are said to have wed in front of 75 guests including Paul's Bake Off co-star Prue Leith. The celebrations kicked off in the afternoon with a small chapel ceremony, thought to have taken place outdoors in the unspoiled grounds of the hotel's Ayia Athanasia chapel.
