Kate Ferdinand confessed she didn’t recognise her own body after giving birth to her daughter Shae.
The 32-year-old and husband Rio Ferdinand welcomed their second child together, daughter Shae, in July, and the former The Only Way Is Essex star candidly gave her fans an insight into life with a newborn as she shared a video that was taken just hours after giving birth to her daughter.
Kate posted the clip on her YouTube channel Blended Community, which documented the build up to Shae’s arrival, as well the emotional aftermath of the c-section. In the footage, Kate can be seen posing in her underwear as she revealed what a “real body looks like” after giving birth. Filming herself as she stood in front of a mirror in her dressing room, Kate said: “This is what a real body looks like after giving birth. God it's been a whirlwind. My recovery has been good but I am still really emotional and I am getting annoyed at everyone because I can't do things.”
She continued: “It's a lot going on. I can't believe my body created this but I also don't recognise myself or my body, it is such a big adjustment. But this is our last baby so I am just trying to enjoy every minute of things.” Kate and Rio also share son Cree, two, while the former footballer is dad to Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia, 11 who he shares with his late wife Rebecca Ellison.
The vlog also revealed details of Shae’s health scare, just hours after she was born, and Kate shared her heartbreak over watching her daughter be whisked away to the neonatal unit. Shae was born with congenital pneumonia, and struggled to breathe, leaving Kate and Rio terrified. “She is in the unit for five days and I can't send anyone pictures of her with all wires. I'm fine but if I talk about it I will cry because I just want her here now for cuddles. It has scared the life out of me,” she tearily admitted. “I haven't been able to sleep unless she is here next to me and I just feel so so emotional.”
Kate Ferdinand cries over Rio's late wife's last act of motherhood before deathThe moment Kate was reunited with her daughter was also filmed, and the reality star can be seen crying as she cuddled her baby after days of stress and worry. “I could just tell they thought there was something wrong. She's not taking in the right amount of oxygen so she's gone to the special care unit,” Kate said of her daughter’s health scare, and revealed she and Rio spent their first night in hospital away from baby Shae. “You don't ever think about the negatives, you don't think about what can go wrong, you don't ever come into a hospital thinking that your first night is gonna be your baby alone, on another ward,” the ex-Manchester United and England footballer explained.
Kate also told viewers that Shae would be their last baby, and said she didn’t imagine the precious newborn moments would involve her daughter being whisked away for urgent treatment. “It's our last baby that we're going to have and we wanted to have memories with this video and just be honest but we didn't know it was going to go down this route in all honesty,” she shared.
