Former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has never been one to keep his opinions to himself and nothing appears to have changed.
Turnning his attention to actress Amanda Abbington's performance with her pro partner Giovanni Pernice on last week's live show, the 47 year old professional dancer had a few choice words to say.
During their routine Giovanni lifted Amanda up in the air which not only impressed the audience but became the main talking pooint for the judges too - but not for Brendan. When asked in a recent interview his thoughts on their routine, he said: "Lifts never excite me – it's not a tricky thing to do for a professional dancer so that kind of thing doesn't excite me."
He added: "It's a weird look it's not particularly elegant. It's not the kind of thing I'd do, but they (Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice) got their cheeky laugh and they got there. They got their moment, but I do think she did a great number." But it seems that it wasn't just their use of lifts that concerned him as he also spoke about Amanda's stamina during her routine.
The father of two told Sky Bingo: "She flagged towards the end, and the judges didn't pick that up, which I found interesting. That was one of the key things about her number, it started powerfully, she was amazing (and) she looked fantastic. Then suddenly, it fell off towards the end. All they could talk about were the fantastic lifts – they did do one or two really nice lifts."
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourBrendan has also previously given his opinion on whether or not Angela Rippon will be crowned winner - but he did not seem to think that she will be able to maintain the pace as the show progresses towards the final. But at 78, she is certainly giving things a good try.
In a previous chat with Sky Bingo he said: "He said: "I think (Angela Rippon) can go all the way to the final but I don't think she can go all the way and win it. The thing with Angela is, I think they were very clever – the music choice – 'You make me feel so young', (Kai Widdrington) looked really dapper. He looks after her, he's a lovely boy. She knows how television works to say all the right things."
He added: "She did a really nice Foxtrot, (it) was a pretty dance. She wasn't hitting a particularly wonderful ballroom position but she's 78 years old. What are we expecting? I think time will play against her in the show because it is very demanding and trying to make two numbers look good is very different to trying to make one number good. Half the time on a number can make a number go from being really nice, to really awful. I've no doubt that she'll probably get to week eight or nine and that'd be great, but then once you step into two numbers, and you've got show dances and whatever, that becomes a tricky thing."
