A devastated mum is facing a mortifying decision after her puppy was critically injured in a serious fall. Owner, Charlotte Burton,28, heard Winston, her French Bulldog, howling in pain from the garden in her home on September 30.
The puppy was immediately taken to the vet where an X-ray has shown a fraction in both of the poor pooch’s elbows from the fall. Sadly, the £2,500 pet insurance could only cover a fraction of the total amount needed - leading Charlotte to desperately gather extra money together for the surgery that Winston needs to survive.
She said the vet believes the puppy could go on to lead a healthy life with no pain but she’ll need to sort the money as soon as possible. Charlotte says her cute pup “hasn’t even had a chance to live yet”.
She told CornwallLive that she only has a few days to raise the funds. She said: "He’s a very healthy dog otherwise and every time someone tells me that, I just want to cry. He is only four months old and hasn’t had a chance to live his life yet.”
The accident occurred in the garden, where Winston likes to chase the family cats around, and Charlotte suspects that he may have been chasing one of the cats which resulted in his injury: “He’s got a graze on his chin so it looks like his front and his elbows took most of the impact.”

But the funds have started to hold his recovery back. Charlotte said: “I made sure I got insurance but maybe I was a bit delusional and didn’t know how much vet bills would cost and I didn’t think that anything could happen that would go over that amount.”
Charlotte is currently crowd-funding a total of £6,000 via a GoFundMe page to cover the rest of the insurance, so far £2,565 has been raised with over 141 donations.
