Breeders Cup runner Live In The Dream takes Pontefract experience to Keeneland

Live In The Dream begins the next chapter of his fairytale story with a Breeders Cup prep run in America.

Adam West has sent his stable flagbearer to Kentucky for a first experience of racing in the country. The trainer and jockey Sean Kirrane fly out of Heathrow tomorrow to complete the sprinter's preparation for the Woodford Stakes. Saturday's Group Two, presented by FanDuel, is run over five-and-a-half furlongs on turf at Keeneland.

The outing will reacquaint Live In The Dream with galloping around a bend ahead of Santa Anita's Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint next month. A shock winner of York's Nunthorpe Stakes when last seen in August, the sprinter has scored at UK turning circuits on four occasions.

"We've got gate two in the Woodford which should give him a real chance," said 23-year-old Kirrane.

"He hasn't run at a track like that since Pontefract in April. It's still a surreal feeling he won the Nunthorpe and now we're off to America."

The apprentice rider lost his claim just before he left professionals including Ryan Moore and Danny Tudhope trailing on the 28-1 shot. Kirrane will follow in their footsteps by spending an extended period in America after Live In The Dream's main target on November 4.

"It helped jockeys like Ryan and Danny and I'd like to fine tune my sectional timing in races," added the Malton-based trainee.

"I'll start looking for an agent this week and put the plans in place to stay out there for a few months."
