Shakira has broken her silence after her ex Gerard Pique went public with his new girlfriend.
The Hips Don't Lie star, 46, and the former Spain and Barcelona defender, 36, announced their shock split in June last year after 12 years together.
Gerard has since moved on with Clara Chia Marti, 23 - and now Shakira has had her say on the matter.
She reckons she has come out of her painful break-up “strengthened” and now feels self-sufficient in an emotional first interview since the couple’s split.
The mum-of-two said she had previously bought into the “story” a woman needs a man but claimed: “I now feel complete because I depend on myself.”

Responding when asked where she stood in the debate she had created with her recent collaboration with Bizarrap, in which she appeared to slam both Pique and Clara Chia, she said: “I am right in the centre.
“I also bought that story, that a woman needed a man to complete herself. I also had that dream of a family where the children had a mum and dad under the same roof.
“You don’t achieve all your dreams in life but life has a way of compensating you and I think life has certainly done it with me with the marvellous two children I have who fill me with love every day.
Shakira added she had always been "emotionally quite dependant on men" but now she is 'sufficient on her own'.
The star recently compared herself to a Rolex while appearing to to brand Pique’s new lover Clara Chia a Casio in her song with Bizarrap last month.
She also sang: “I’m worth two 22s” in a clear jib at Clara, who was 22 when is believed to have started dating Pique to Shakira’s 44.
More recently the star shared a clip of her singing along to SZA’s hit song Kill Bill on Valentine’s Day as she lip-synced the lyrics "I might kill my ex".
