An Amazon employee died after an incident during his shift at a warehouse.

The man was dashed to hospital, where despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead on September 20. The tragedy happened at the giant warehouse in Swansea, south Wales.

Amazon has pledged to carry out a "thorough investigation" into the incident. Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene. An Amazon spokesperson expressed their condolences, stating: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with our employee's family and friends at this sad time. We're providing support to his colleagues at the site and also conducting a thorough investigation."

A representative from the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed their involvement, saying: "We were called on September 20 at 11.39pm to reports of an incident at Ffordd Amazon, Swansea. We sent two emergency ambulances and one Cymru high-acuity response unit paramedic to the scene. One person was taken to Morriston Hospital for further treatment."

Strangers have taken to Facebook to pay their respects to the man. One social media user posted: "May he rest in peace." Another wrote: "Such a sad story."

A warehouse worker died at the Amazon distribution centre in Tilbury, Essex, in November 2021. Ambulance services were called to the huge site after reports of a person unwell. Sadly the man could not be saved and reportedly died after suffering a "medical episode" in his car. Essex Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Speaking at the time, Amazon said in a statement: "[The person's] family and loved ones are in our thoughts, and we're supporting them and our employees during this difficult time." The two million square foot site at Tilbury is the biggest in Europe and has around 4,000 workers. It usually runs a 24/7 schedule.
