Corrie fans left distracted as Stephen's downfall 'sealed' after dead body found

Coronation Street fans were left distracted on Tuesday night as Stephen Reid's downfall appeared to near as a dead body was found on the ITV soap in a chilling twist.

The desperate businessman, played by actor Todd Boyce, has killed three people so far — Jenny Connor's fiancé Leo Thompkins, the latter's father Teddy and Rufus Donahue. Stephen also attempted to kill Elaine Metcalfe, secretly spiked Carla Connor with LSD and even forged a paternity letter for his niece Sarah Barlow — to name a few of his evil schemes!

On Tuesday's episode, Ed Bailey made a grisly discovery at the building site after he noticed that the digger driver looked troubled and hurried over to take a look. Ronnie Bailey then arrived at the building site to see Ed talking to a uniformed Craig Tinker. And it wasn't long until Ronnie peered into the hole where the digger had unearthed a dead body.

Soap watchers were quick to react to the scenes as one person joked: "Well finding the body there wasn't predictable was it #Corrie" while another viewer added: "So is it just coincidence that they started digging at the exact spot Stephan had buried the body? #corrie." Elsewhere, other fans predicted Stephen's downfall as one said: "Ooh a body’s been found, better watch out Stephen. #Corrie" with another adding: "Stephens DNA all over that body #corrie!"

Later in the week, the net starts to close in on Stephen as a loved-up Jenny tells him it's about time he moved into the pub still oblivious to the fact he murdered her fiancé and father-in-law. Stephen returns to work full of the joys but his mood soon changes when he hears a body has been found on Ed and Ronnie’s building site.

Masking his inner turmoil, Stephen makes out he’s got a migraine and back at the pub he desperately presses Ed for more details. Things then go from bad to worse for Stephen when Ed confirms that it was definitely a man's body, leaving the cobbles killer panicking. Later, a uniformed Craig calls to the pub and breaks the news to Jenny that the body is that of Leo's to which the shocking news leaves Jenny reeling in shock. Is the game finally up for Stephen?
