Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel scored a bullet header in the final moments of his side's Champions League group stage game against Atletico Madrid to salvage a remarkable draw.

With the clock ticking down in Rome, the 29-year-old Italian keeper decided to join his side's attack in the closing stages, and when Luis Alberto fired over a fierce cross he leapt and planted a header beyond Jan Oblak to steal a point for the Serie A side.

Lazio had fallen behind in the first half of the Group E game when Pablo Barrios struck for Diego Simeone's side but just when it looked as though the visitors would hold out for the win, Provedel emerged to equalise and spark wild scenes in the Italian capital.

Provedel has become the fourth goalkeeper to score in Champions League history, with his equaliser coming on a night when the other game in Group E ended in a 2-0 win for Feyenoord against Celtic.

The Scottish side went down to nine men in Rotterdam as Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm both saw red, with the dismissals sandwiched between goals from Feyenoord's Calvin Stengs and Alireza Jahanbakhsh, with Igor Paixao also seeing a penalty saved by Joe Hart.

Celtic captain Callum McGregor said: "Difficult game, I thought we started really well. They get the goal right before half time and that undoes a lot of good work from us. To get two men sent off in quick succession... We’ll learn the lesson.

"Probably slightly harsh [red cards] but in Uefa competitions the leniency is probably not quite as high. There are five games to go so hopefully they'll be walking off thinking we didn’t give up, we didn’t quit... We were still fighting for each other at the end. It's hard enough with 11 men, never mind nine. Disappointing night but we have five games to try and fix it."

Speaking on TNT Sports, former Celtic foward John Hartson said: "Celtic don't have a lot of time to over-dwell on this result. They go again on Saturday with a couple of league games in between this one and their home tie with Lazio where they will be desperate to bounce back.

"This team have to try and get the crowd to push them on at home. This club is too big, it's too important, and in football, you always get a chance to put it right.

"A lot of things have conspired against them tonight and I'm not making excuses, Feyenoord have played well."
