September is always a weird one for the weather - we can either expect an incredibly wet and windy one, or one that’s baking hot and we’re still wearing our summer clothes! Thankfully fashion journalist and broadcaster Louise Roe has collaborated with River Island and created her ‘September Editor’s Picks’ - a 32-item strong collection of transitional pieces. Louise has handpicked items that will give your autumn wardrobe the update it needs, yet stand the test if time across following seasons to come.
But there’s one item that’s caught the eye of shoppers across the country, and we’re of course talking about the gorgeous, Satin Halter Neck Midi Slip Dress. Hundreds of people have liked the picture and left comments saying how ‘gorgeous’, ‘stunning’ and ‘wonderful’ Louise looks - and those people aren’t wrong! My standout River Island pieces include a red bouclé jacket - giving me major Clueless throwback vibes - as well as a chic ‘90s bomber, a loose double-breasted dusky pink suit and a rich, chocolate brown slip dress.”
This autumn, you can expect those usually stuffy suits banished and given a seasonal refresh in soft, draping fabrics that, when worn as a two-piece and paired with stuffed white loafers and a classic white vest, look perfect for the office and beyond.
Even when it’s worn separately, the blazer looks chic styled with jeans and promises and effortless, off-duty look. Satin remains a key seasonal fabric - which is perfect for those late summer soirées. As for the bouclé jacket? It’s a September must-have, and has been updated in the colour of the season - red.
